Tracks Cook's route through the islands with dates of various observations and landfalls and provides an interesting topographical image of the islands. Large inset of Karakakooa Bay, including soundings and anchorages The large inset depicts Kealakekua Bay where Cook met his untimely death on February 14, 1779. Copper engraving by T . Conder, uncoloured as issued. Overall sheet size: 37.4cms x 23.3cms ; image size: 336mm x 215mm including imprint.

Oberlé, Fastes..., 168 ; Bitting 478 ------- Third edition reviewed and corrected by the Author, increased by a large number of articles concerning the pantry and followed by a wider Table better ordered than the first. "One of the most famous receipts book of the 19th century... Viard "homme de bouche" was one of the renovers of the Art of cooking " (Oberlé). Osbourne & Company), Feb. 11, 1882. First edition. Beinecke 111. A rare specimen of the private printing ventures of Stevenson and his young stepson, [Samuel] Lloyd Osbourne. The text comprises [p.1] a greeting ("To M.I. STEVENSON / Feb. 11, 1882 / from / R.L. STEVENSON / and / S.L. OSBOURNE."); [p.2] a woodcut of a woman in a dress, raising her arms in delight at the sight of a flower in the countryside; [p.3] the caption ("THE MARGUERITE. / Lawks! what a beautiful flower!! / T.S. / [ornamental flourish]"); [p. 4] the imprint ("Printers: / S.L. Osbourne & Co. / Davos-Platz / 1882"). Light spotting and edgewear, but a very good copy of a fragile publication. In a full morocco pull-off case with silk folding inner liner by the "Scroll Club, N.Y."
